Getting to Know Us

It’s almost July and that only means one thing – holiday season! As we’re getting ready for our respective holidays and travels, we thought we’d do this tag. Back in March the lovely Marine from The Frenchie Escapes nominated us for the Liebster Award along with these great questions. It’s such a great way of getting to know us and our travel quirks, so thank you Marine for nominating us. Make sure to check out her website, and hope you enjoy this post!

Why did you want to create a blog?

I wanted to create a blog to share my experiences, thoughts and views.

What is inspiring you?

Other blogs, places I visit, and just sometimes from daily or ordinary activites.

What is your favourite destination?

I haven’t been to too many countries but one of my favourite destination I’ve travelled to is Japan.

What kind of traveller are you?

I tend to travel solo and meet people and make friends along the way, I love photographing landscapes so I always seek out the best spots to get amazing photos.

Do you speak several languages? (If not, would you like to learn one?)

Yes, English, of course and Indonesian. I’ve also dabbled and learnt a bit of Japanese, French, Spanish and I’m currently learning Italian.

Who would you bring with you for a trip?

I would bring one of my close friends

Is there a crazy adventure you would like to try?

It would be amazing to be able to do the climb at Mount Norquay in Canada to see the amazing view at the top

What do you like doing the most while on a trip?

Taking photos and trying out new food

Is there a country where you would like to live in?

I think I would love to live somewhere in Europe – maybe Italy or Spain.

Are you more a city, ocean, country or mountain person? Why?

I love the mountain mainly coz of the stunning views that I would be able to photograph.

What’s your next adventure?

My next adventure is Europe, I’ll be going there for the first time. I can’t wait!

Why did you want to create a blog?

I think it’s a great way to connect globally and share thoughts and experiences. I also just love writing, so it’s like keeping a digital notebook that I can access anywhere.

What inspires you?

Music is a big thing. I have different playlists for different tasks, and finding new tunes always gets me super pumped and inspired. I also love poetry, it always raises my vibration and puts me in a calm state of mind.

What is your favourite destination?

Norway was breathtakingly beautiful. It’s where I was born and I got to return in the summer of 2008. Every landscape felt untouched and the road trip was amazing, definitely hard to top.

What kind of traveller are you?

I’m a laid-back traveller. I never forget the fact that it’s a holiday, and that comes with taking time to enjoy, relax and unwind. I make bullet points of important places and things I want to see and do, and then let the rest of the trip unfold. I love getting lost and finding the most unexpected / special things. Those are the memories you take with you.

Do you speak several languages? (If not, would you like to learn one?)

I speak English, Italian and Indonesian. I studied Japanese when I was younger and now have forgotten most of it, although I can still write and read in Hiragana. I know basic French but I’d love to speak it fluently! It’s such a beautiful language.

Who would you bring with you for a trip?

Depends on what kind of trip. For an adventurous trip my husband Richie. For a laid back, relaxing escape my closest friends. For a crazy, fun, luxurious trip my sister Nindi, she’s bonkers.

Is there a crazy adventure you would like to try?

There are two which are pretty high on my bucket list. The first is to go on a spiritual retreat in Peru, and the second is to go on a Route 66 roadtrip in a campervan.

What do you like doing the most while on a trip?

Trying all the delicious food!

Is there a country where you would like to live in?

Totally dreaming, but Tuscany, Italy. Have a vineyard, paint on lazy afternoons, sit on the porch and watch the day go by.

Are you more a city, ocean, country or mountain person? Why?

Ocean and country person. I’ve lived in big cities my whole life and I always feel most at home when I’m by the water, or in a small countryside with beautiful sceneries.

What’s your next adventure?

I’m heading to Yogyakarta in a month, Krakow, Poland in August, Edinburgh in September and Paris in October.

Why did you want to create a blog?

To tell a story, share my thoughts & inspiration, while also learning new things.

What is inspiring you?

Good books, great music, wonderful stories.

What is your favourite destination?

So far, Cambridge. Strange since I was only there for less than 12 hours, but it made such a big impression. I found my self wondering how it would feel to study there…

What kind of traveller are you?

Depends on my mood. I could be the most relaxed traveller,  not wanting to do anything nor ambitious about going to too many places. But when I’m in the mood to explore, I could go pretty crazy. Out and about all day and trying to capture and see all that I can.

Do you speak several languages? (If not, would you like to learn one?)

I speak English, Indonesian and am currently learning Spanish. Hola!

Who would you bring with you for a trip?

I go on lots of bonding trips with my sisters. To faraway places I’d bring my closest friends. To explore Indonesia I usually go alone or with a community, so you meet new people on your travels and form friendships. This usually leads to more trips.

Is there a crazy adventure you would like to try?

Surfing and diving. Those are crazy enough, I mean, have you seen Jaws?

What do you like doing the most while on a trip?

I love hanging out at parks because something as simple as that is so difficult to do in Jakarta. I also enjoy wandering around town, taking photos and finding inspirations.

Is there a country where you would like to live in?

Maybe Seattle, US. The city is so friendly and there are great coffee shops everywhere. They also have a great university in case I want to further my studies. I could also go shopping for seafood everyday at Pike Place. In the meantime, Jakarta is good, as long as I can travel.

Are you more a city, ocean, country or mountain person? Why?

City and ocean. There’s an ease to living in the city that is hard to find anywhere else. You can find any service/item easily provided. And yes, there’s plenty of traffic, hustle and bustle going on, but you can always find a quiet corner to just be. Every city also has its own character.
I also chose the ocean because I can just float and not do anything, hehe.

What’s your next adventure?

Yogyakarta in a month and Morocco, Spain, London later on this year!

So that’s it for our Getting to Know Us post, we had so much fun answering them! We might start doing a set of different tags every month so you can get to know different sides of our personality. Feel free to answer these tags too, we would love to see your answers.

Lots of love,
