7 Deadly Sins : My Liquid Lipstick Review

I’m so happy about the matte lipsticks that are currently in trend. I’ve always loved the matte look, and so I ventured out and tried these 7 different matte lipsticks.

1. Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red (IDR 288.000)
This is hands down my favorite so far. It has a creamy consistency (hence the name) and turns matte in less than a minute. It’s not drying, stays on my lips through greasy food, and the color is so pretty. It’s a true red.

2. LA Splash Lip Couture in Latte Confession (IDR 150.00)
I’ve been looking for a nude color ever since Sephora discontinued their cream lip stain in classic beige. So I bought this after I saw a video on youtube, I forgot who it was by, but her skin tone is similar to mine and the color looked beautiful on her. Although on the downside, the first thing I noticed was the smell. It’s very chemical. And although it has a very liquid-y consistency, when first applied – it felt very drying on my lips. Although, it does get better.
Overall this liquid lipstick is just alright.

3. Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Grand Cru (IDR 186.000)
I feel like this product is the least opaque of all the liquid lipsticks that I own. It took a while to dry and when it did it wasn’t completely matte like the LA Splash lip smitten. You need to apply more than one layer to achieve the lipstick’s true color which is kind of a drag. On the positive side, the color is a beautiful deep maroon.

4. MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer in Reckless
My girl Nisa bought this for me, yay! This is different from other red shades I own. Ithas the slightest tint of fuchsia. This too took a while to dry, and when it did itwasn’t completely matte. I also notice that when I eat, it will definitely transfer – although it doesn’t really bother me that much. Just reapply, not a big deal! 🙂

5. LA Girl Matte Finish Pigment Gloss in Secret (IDR 85.000)
A lot of people on youtube mentioned just how much they loved this product’s applicator… unfortunatelly I’m not one of them. The applicator is just a straight line in the tip of the wand. I feel like it’s more difficult to apply liquid lipstick this way,I like the basic doe foot better.
The color is pretty. It’s deeper than true red but lighter than burgundy, a color that would suit most skin tones. It took a while for it to dry, and if yousqueeze your lips together before it dries, the product will stick together and it won’t look pretty – I learnt it the hard way!

6. LA Splash Lip Smitten in Nymphadora (IDR 150.000)
Once you put this on, it will stay. Seriously. Enough said.
Many people complain, saying it is so hard to remove them, but I just use my Clean Express Waterproof eye makeup remover and it works like a charm!

7. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Abu Dhabi (IDR 150.000)
Remember how I said I was looking for a nude to replace my all time favorite classic beige? This is the closest I’ve gotten to finding the perfect replacement (so far!). I love the color, it’s the perfect nude for my skin tone. I also like that the packaging looks so cute! One thing I don’t like is that the product seems like it disappears into thin air, like I just bought it and it’s gone the next day! Well that’s a bit dramatic but you know what I mean.

So that’s my review on the 7 liquid lipsticks I’ve tried so far. Hope it helped! I’ll be back to update with new products and colors.

The dark purple one is called Kooky Nabila 🙂
It’s gorgeous and highly pigmented, but does show the lines on your lips quite a bit and it’s quite drying.
Also need to reapply after meals because it tends to bleed.
